ABOUT KAREN BLEAKLEY ART

I’ve been creating art for myself and others, for more than 40 years. My overriding passion is creating landscapes and dreamscapes that allows you to pause, look slowly, and rest your mind. My creative process is deeply influenced by artists such as Mark Rothko and Frank Bowling, and sits between landscape and abstraction, often allowing form to dissolve into layered colour and movement. I work with colour, emotion, and create warmth and atmosphere. I am definitely not a ‘cold cube’ artist! Some paintings begin with a sense of place, whilst others emerge more intuitively, guided by emotion, memory and the physical process of painting, itself. I work at both small and large scale.

I also paint reresentational portraiture with a focus on revealing the hidden nature of the sitter - what lies beneath the surface. Examples in my portfolio.

My current work can be viewed at my home studio by appointment, and is held in private collections in the UK.
